To See the Rainbow There First Must Be Rain

Today was a steady day….neither up nor down, but right smack in the middle. Even the weather was kinda like that, I’d like to think. Warm a bit, cool a bit, but not really hot nor cold except for in brief spurts. Just like how I was today: neither good nor bad, but with brief spurts of excitement and frustration.

As always before heading off to bed, I choose to cap off the day with my list of what I am grateful for for the day and just before I sat down to do it, a blogger friend of mine shared a blog post in her FB wall which contained a poem entitled “A Letter from Heaven“. As I read through it, this line struck me:

But do not be afraid to cry
It does relieve the pain,
Remember there would be no flowers
Unless there was some rain.

And so though today as I head off to bed, I stop and remember what I am grateful for:

I am reminded to be grateful for rain and for challenges that come, even if they’re not fun.
I am grateful, too, for the promise of  a rainbow after the rain & flowers that bloom
I am made grateful to know that there is always an end in sight, though I may not see it yet and at the end of it all,
I am simply grateful, just because.
