When I was doing my internship in a rehabilitation center a couple of years ago, one of the statements that the residents would often repeat as their mantra was “fake it till you make it”.
I never really understood what they meant by it being a “positive” thing. I always assumed it meant that they’re just faking their participation in the program just to get it done because it was mandated or required. Now, however, in hindsight I have come to realize what they meant…it’s to “fake” being okay in the meantime even if you’re not, because eventually, you’ll make it anyway.
